Science the Heck out of Climate Change, Sophia E. Hayes, PhD
Sophia E. Hayes, Ph.D., is eager to share her passion for combating climate change with us. A chemistry professor at Washington University, she’ll share how we can start taking steps today to control greenhouse gases, clean up emissions and be bold agents of change. Sophia E. Hayes is a professor of chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. Her group is focused on improving the basic understanding of the structure and properties of different types of inorganic systems, including semiconductors and other optically and electronically active materials. Her research interests include optically-pumped NMR and optically-detected NMR; quadrupolar NMR of clusters and thin films; and carbon capture, utilization and sequestration. Hayes has spoken about the importance of harnessing technical innovation to mitigate climate change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
